Twisted Pair/Phone Lines

The telephone lines that transfer the bytes of information through superinformation highway are made up of hundreds of copper wires called twisted pairs. The twisted pairs have been the most standard transmission for both voice and data. This form of transfer is the most common way information is brought to the common household. However, phone lines are the slowest way to transmit data because the lines only have the capacity to transmit one bit is at a time. A twisted pair line is approximated 2.63 mm in diameter.
