Ring Network

In a ring network there is no central file server or computer. Each device in the network is connected to 2 other devices, to form a ring. The data flows through the ring of connected hosts until the data reaches the correct destination. The ring network is the least frequently used network configuration, however, it is often used to link mainframe networks together and inter-linked networks. Ring networks are decentralized organizations and therefore are considered distributed data processing systems, which means that individual computers can perform processing tasks at their own connected locations. In this type of network the host can share programs, data, and other resources within the network.
