[Syllabus logo] Resistor Combinations

Simplest Circuit:

[Schematic of simplest circuit]

By examination of the circuit, the voltage across the 6 ohm resistor is seen to be 3 V. Applying Ohm's law,
I = V/R = (3 V) / (6 ohm) = 0.5 A

A current of 0.5 A flows in both the resistor and the battery.
