PHYS345 Electricity and Electronics

Hint for S9.1

Assign three intermediate states D, E, and F and rely on the NAND truth table for appropriate combinations of inputs and intermediates.

Hint for S9.2

The first combination of gates was worked out in class.

Hint for D9.15

This is a truth table for 4 inputs; it has 16 rows. The Karnaugh map will look like a 4 x 4 array with a structure similar to the map constructed in class for one column of the 7-segment decoder truth table.

Hint for P9.5

Ignore the advice of your high school English teacher and introduce some double negatives! These two circuits have identical truth tables:

no double not

yes double not

Invoke DeMorgan's theorem.

Hint for P9.10

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
(The more things change, the more they stay the same.)
