Special Assignment #1 on Capacitance

a. Find an expression for the capacitance per unit length of the coaxial cable shown. Your answer should be expressed in pF/m.

There is a solid copper inner conductor (radius 0.81 mm), surrounded by polyethylene dielectric (2.25), sheathed with a braided copper shield (radius 2.9mm). You may suppress the presence of the dielectric in your analysis until we complete our investigation of dielectric materials.

This cable is known as RG58/U cable and is typically used to make reasonably high-speed circuit connections between electronic test instruments.
