Are there phytochemicals or herbal medicines which interfere with prescription medicines?

Sometimes I start with the Britannica Online when I see a specific term, seemingly definitive, that I do not recognize. However there was no entry for phytochemical. So back to the web...

    Found numerous interesting sites, but none particularly helpful,
although I did learn that phyto means plant:

Since there are numerous known adverse reactions among prescription medicines, it would seem impossible (at least to a physicist) that one particular class of medicines, even though "natural," would miraculously be free of adverse reactions. Chemicals are chemicals...
