Chicago Softball

Originally indoor baseball, this sport and the 16" circumference ball is one of the oldest American games and goes back to 1887. The size of the ball and its softness makes it easy to hit and catch barehanded (no gloves are needed). The pitch is always slow and three simple rules to dictate our play, otherwise standard rules apply:
1) 3 swing strikeouts, no balls (5 swing strikeouts for <5’ or <100lbs)
2) No leads, no steals
3) One base limit on missed catch at the base

The team roster for our summer 2008 team "Balls in Orbit", or "BO" for short is:
General Managers: Liz F. (s) and Barry W. (f)
Team: Matt DeCamp (f), Jamie Holder (f), Samantha White (ug), Jane Waesche (ug), Bruce Wen (g), Nagitha Ekanayake (g), Bill Kardine (ug), Adam Watts (ug), Teddy Stanev (ug), Paul Parsons (ug), Tara Drake (ug)

Okay, to start the field and playing positions are given to the right. There are also two coaches allowed near first and third base to help direct play for the team at bat.
