The Transparent Compact Disc

Polycarbonate is used for compact discs because of its low optical distortion, good mechanical strength, high heat and moisture resistance, and great dimensional accuracy. The material must be exceptionally pure and surface contamination from the molding process must be minimized to ensure an accurate product.
