Eric and Michelle's Honeymoon Page
Michelle and I spent our Honeymoon in Cancun Mexico. We want
to thank ???? for giving us his time share, which ended up including all
our drinks and meals at the resort as the below account will tell.
After a 3hour nap Dave McKenzie picked us up a 5am (thanks Dave) to get
to Philadelphia Int. Airport for an 8am flight to Mexico via Charlotte.
We landed a 2 or so and it took an hour to get out of the damn airport.
All the information boths are run by hotels and you have to get through
their attempts to sell you stuff before you get any information.
My advice to anyone landing in Cancun is put your head down, and get out
of the airport. We got checked in, our all inclusive braclets and
started drinking. We stopped drinking last night. I dont think
my resistance has been this high since sophmore year at F&M.

drinking
-
hanging out by the pool
-
I got sunburned on my lips, its pretty gross. On Wed. a bartender
asked if it was from kissing too much (cute).
-
- Shopping at a Mall we were told about on the bus ride from the
airport, plus there's a Pat O'Brians there. Had a couple huracanes,
tosted our fist trip to Paty Os when we first met. Not our last trip
to Paty Os.
Tuesday -
-
a little less drinking
-
8am pickup for a trip to Xel Ha an outdoor park with jungle hikes....
-
Walking tour. Did some cliff jumping, pretty high, about the same
as back in Briacliff, but there were no concrete slabs or steel rods to
clear like back home.
-
Lunch. They said it was a hamburger, but it wasn't a hamburger.
The waiter said it was beef mixed with oatmeal. It looked and tasted
more like scrapple, I ate it, Mich didn't.
-
Dolphin swim. There were three groups of six of us. Each group
gets 2 dolphins and an instructor. The guy tells us a bit about the
dolphins including where, and how we can play with the fish (I know). Then
they take a picture of each person getting a kiss from their fish (not
seen here yet). The fish do a few tricks, then into the water we go.
It was EXCELLENT. Mich, some little girl and I got to play with one who
was very friendly. She like being petted, and I think she liked me the
most. She kept following me around. One of the other ones was
getting a bit rambunctious and almost smacked little girl with his tail.
We were in for about 30min, but it felt longer.

more drinking

Took it easy (drank)
-
Played miniature golf
-
went in the city of Cancun - NEVER DO THIS. We lasted about 30min
before the CONSTANT harsment from the shop owners at the flea martket drove
us out. Now, I don't mind haggeling, even if I'm not too good at
it, and I still get ripped off, at least I feel some satisfaction by getting
them the lower the price. What I dont like is the people, all the
people, trying to drag you into their both. So we exchanged some money
at the bank (a much better rate than at the hotel, or the mall) and went
home. The bus system around Cancun was very good, $.50 for anywhere.

dinner
-
Knick - Heat game at the All-Star Cafe. Shitty game, best Margaretas
I've ever had. I wish van Gungy would just leave Starks in the game.
This was where Mich found, much to our budgets detriment, how much she
liked drinking and shopping. We probably spent as much money that
night as we did for our entire stay, including meals and drinks at the
Resort (We got the room free from an unused time share of a friend of Michelle's
and on the second day we sold off an extra room in our suite, which we
weren't using anyway, for free food/drinks)
Thursday
-
- 7:30am pickup for a trip to Chichenitza (sp).
Kicked Ass. This was my fovorite. We got a 2hr tour of the
area. Pok-a-pok (sp) courts, a ball game where either the winners
or the lossers (still some debate about this) captain gets his head cut
off after the game (I'm not to clear on this whole head-cutting off thing,
but the Mayans seem to have done alot of it). The wall of heads,
where they display the severed heads. More sacraficial temples.
A well where they sarcificed babies (again with this not understanding
thing on my part). We went the Obervatory. They let you climb in and out
of alot the stuff. Then an hour to poke around which was when
we went up the big pyramid. At first Mich wasn't going to go up,
so I left her the back pack and climbed up. This sucker is steap.
Got to the top. Waved to Mich, she took my picture, I tried waved
for her to come up, she didn't. I went into the shrine at the top
of the temple, came out, and Mich stared up the pyramid like a turtle with
the backpack. I thought she was going to fall. I could see
the headlines "New Bride Forced to Carry Backpack Dies Falling From Pyrmid
As Selfish Dumb-Ass Husband Watched From Above". But she made it,
we looked around a bit, then down we went. Now the problem with the
pyramid isn't so much going up, as it is going down. This time I
did carry the backpack, I walked down, nearly falling a couple times, and
Mich joined a long line of people going down on there buts. I hope
that picture comes out. The pyramid actually has another pyramid inside
it, like a Russian toy or something. Its only open for a couple hours at
a time because, the guide said, the oxygen runs out. I forgot to
go, I guess I was so happy to survive the big pyramid, plus we were out
of time anyway.

Friday -
-
Snorkeling. We got two people motor boats and caravaned out through
some swampy/jungle (I looked like the Bayoo tour we took on the air boat
in Lousianna) out into the ocean. They really let you open
up the boats, but the person in front of us was kinda slow. We got
out to the second larget reef in the world and did some snorkelling.
Beautifull. No sharks. Then we motored back to shore, this
time we paralled the coast for a good bit, pretty close in so we were jumping
the waves.
-
Mall. I went to Paty O's, read, drank and smoked a big ass Cuban.
Mich drank and shopped, and shopped, and shopped.
-
Big-ass rain storm. Awesome. The only problem was the bus ride
back. I mentioned the $.50 rides, what I didn't mention was that
they drive these things like NYC cab drivers, and they didn't letup much
because of the weather.
