Physics Branch Library

The Branch Library in Physics (click here for the full official library web site) is a branch library serving the faculty, staff and students enrolled in courses in general science. It is located at 221 Sharp Laboratory at the University of Delaware. It provides a specialized collection of several thousand books, reference materials, and electronic media in the areas of science, physics, math, and related fields. The Physics Library also provides reference and electronic access to course materials and homework solutions for physics and science courses at UD. Seating is available for 34 users, including a 6 station computer workspace with programs needed in physics courses and related subject areas. Wireless LAN and AC outlet are available for laptop connections in the room.

Physics Lecture Demonstration Search

The demonstrations are available through DELCAT. The demonstrations may also be searched at the Full Physics Lecture Demonstration Index. This index is also searchable through Google below. Please enter the PIRA Classification (e.g. 6F20.15) or the area of physics (e.g. optics color) you wish to find related demonstrations.

Telescope Resource

A telescope is available for students to checkout for periods of 3 hours with a UD ID and copy of a drivers license. The telescope can be used alone, with a CCD camera, or driven by a laptop computer (also available for checkout.) With the CCD camera and computer students can capture images of millions of objects in the sky from planets to constellations. For the less experienced astronomer, the computer has auto find capabilities and can set itself up to true north and then find the object in the sky you select from the computer sky database.

Quiet Zone

The library is a Quiet Study Zone. Though that cheeseburger and soda may smell and sound like heaven to you, it probably doesn't to the person sitting next to you. After that big meal you might be tempted to take some ZZZ's. So, to provide the best study environment for everyone, the following items are banned in the library at all times: CELL PHONES, FOOD AND DRINK (bottled water is permitted), SLEEPING.
