Fields of Research

I am currently interested in the interface between macroscopic and microscopic physics, in particular the relationship of the reconfiguration of individual macromolecules in muscle to its macroscopic shortening. The study of this relationship broadly includes physiology and biochemistry in addition to physics and statistical mechanics. My work has involved me with imaging by soft X-rays as well as with optical interferometry, holography, and microscopy; and I am skilled in the analysis of partially coherent images.
