Undergrad Physics Research

Laser Research

Research gives students the opportunity to work on real physics problems. Research opportunities exist across the research spectrum in the department and also in physics education. These mentoring experiences often have a lifelong impact as students and faculty work side by side.

Fundamental research is one of the primary activities of the department.

Getting Involved

Research

To get involved in undergraduate research contact the undergraduate research office and/or the professor whose research interests you. Ideal opportunities for research occur during the summer and students are encouraged to work for two summers. Students can receive either academic credit toward graduate or a cash stipend.

If you wish to work in a research group, it is a good idea to begin the search process for a faculty sponsor as soon as possible, two months before the start date of the research is a good target to finalize the commitment.
