Society of Physics Students

The purpose of the society is to encourage others and ourselves in their pursuit of physics. Specifically to be involved in UG research, attend a conference, and one high school outreach event before you graduate. Developing effective physics demonstrations for high school tours is also a goal of this local chapter.

Membership

SPS National Office

In order to join you need to have an interest in physical science. (Any interest will do.) You should want to enjoy participating in a student organization and of course $20 for the National SPS Office. For that small fee, you get

1. A year-long subscription to "Physics Today"
2. A chance to hang with cool physics people like yourself
3. To eat free pizza at our meetings.

Undergraduate Physics and Astronomy Scholar

Every year, at the beginning of the fall semester kick-off meeting, two outstanding SPS students are recognized for their academic and research achievements. Each award, which is voted on by the faculty, consists of a $500 cash check and all the notoriety and prestige that we can possibly muster up.
