Thinking Like a Physicist
Physics as a MajorThe major in physics may choose between a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.). The B.S. degree is designed for students who wish to continue to graduate school or seek employment in the area of science immediately after graduation. The B.A. degree is designed for students who want a broad education, with some concentration in physics. In addition, we offer a physics education B.A., tailored for those preparing to teach in secondary schools, and three emphasis B.S. degrees in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Chemical Physics, and Materials Physics. These programs give you a choice of specialization in physics. Students may also broaden their education by double majoring, graduating with honors, or graduating with distinction in Physics and Astronomy. Historically, our alumni have done well in the job market and in gaining admission to graduate programs. A listing of undergraduate alumni is available for further reading. |
