The application process

Detailed instructions for application can be found on the website maintained by the Graduate Office

In order to be considered for admission you must submit the following

  1. A completed application form. The Office of Graduate Studies prefers that you submit your application electronically. http://www.udel.edu/gradoffice/applicants/. If this is not possible for you, you can send a request for a paper copy of the form to physics@physics.udel.edu. Foreign students must also submit a Financial Responsibiliy form.
  2. Official test scores (GRE, GRE subject. For students whose first language is not English, a TOEFL score is also required.
  3. Three letters of recommendation, sent independently by professors or others who are familiar with the applicant’s academic work. Of the reference letters, at least one should be from someone familiar with graduate study in the U.S.A., and where appropriate at least one should address the applicant’s English speaking ability.
  4. A brief statement of purpose.
  5. Copies of official transcripts from all previous colleges, with translations to English where necessary.
  6. Application fee ($60.00) - To use a credit card to pay the application admission fee, you must apply at our web address http://www.udel.edu/gradapply. If you send a paper application, you will need to pay with a check drawn on a U.S. bank or an international money order (both must be in U.S. currency).

Do not send the application to the physics department.

All applicants must have a Social Security Number. If you do not have one, the University will assign you a temporaryone.
